• “I cursed my sh*tty phone for blowing the biggest opportunity of my life” – Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley (fka Dean Ambrose in WWE) and Mick Foley were scheduled to have a match after WrestleMania 28, but the plan got nixed when Foley wasn’t cleared to compete.

But before Foley was checked by the WWE doctors for clearance to compete, they were building up this feud on Social Media.

On one occasion, Ambrose was in Europe and decided to tweet about Foley’s family to build up the feud, but Foley sent him messages to not mention his family.

However, Ambrose didn’t receive those messages and went on to make a tweet about Foley’s family, and this pissed off The Hardcore Legend.

Here’s what Ambrose wrote about this in his book:

“When I returned to U.S. soil my phone lit up with messages, among them several long texts from Mick asking me what the f**k my problem was. I was mortified. I would never have said anything intentionally disrespectful or out of line with our story if not for the fact that that’s exactly what I thought he wanted me to do.

I cursed my sh*tty phone for blowing the biggest opportunity of my life. I profusely apologized, explained it was a misunderstanding, and we smoothed it over quickly, but there must be a lesson to be learned here about trying so hard to work other people that you end up not knowing what’s real and what’s not.

They couldn’t get Mick medically cleared. That was it. He was done. It was over. I was crushed. I don’t know the details of Mick’s evaluation, but I believe it was due to his history with concussions.

Mick had tried. He suggested to the doctor we could work an entire match around his leg and play it safe as possible. ’Twas not to be.”
