In 2005, Matt Hardy was fired from WWE after details came out that Matt’s then girlfriend Lita was having an affair with fellow RAW Superstar Edge.

Hardy was brought back after several weeks, and WWE ended up booking a real-life based storyline, in which Lita joined Edge in a bitter rivalry against Matt.

2017 WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle – who was a member of the RAW roster as well in 2005 – spoke about the infamous storyline on an episode of his weekly ‘The Kurt Angle Show’ podcast, and revealed that he found the situation uncomfortable back then.

Here’s what Kurt said:

“You know what, it was so uncomfortable. I was really tight with Edge and Christian and The Hardy Boys.

And when they did that whole thing, I didn’t like it, to be honest with you. It just wasn’t very tasteful. I understand why they were doing it.

And I understand Matt Hardy was on board with it, but I didn’t. I didn’t like it. I thought it was just sh*t.”

Edge did not enjoy this storyline either. Here’s what The Rated-R Superstar said on Angle’s podcast:

“I think when everything with Matt (Hardy) and [Lita], I didn’t enjoy any of that, that was hard. It was a position that I put myself in and thought okay, I made my bed, I just got to deal with this.

Then I thought okay, we’re here now, how can we pull a positive? Let’s make some money. That’s what we did, this is the situation, now let’s try and get something good out of this pretty lousy scenario, the matches were (good) though because I loved working with Matt.”
