Brooks Jensen, a 24-year-old standout from WWE NXT, has declared his desire to be Cena’s last-ever opponent – not for fame or glory, but to settle what he calls a two-decade family vendetta.

WWE announced the “Last Time Is Now” tournament during Saturday Night’s Main Event, a 16-man competition that will determine who faces Cena in his final match on December 13 in Washington, D.C.

Moments after the news broke, Jensen took to social media with a message that immediately caught fans’ attention:

“It’s been 22 years since John Cena screwed my father’s career over… maybe my time is now #SNME”

He reminded the world that his father, Bull Buchanan, once stood beside Cena on SmackDown in 2003 as his enforcer and hype man under the name “B².” That partnership ended abruptly when Cena turned on Buchanan – a move that effectively ended his father’s WWE career. Buchanan was soon sent back to developmental and later released, while Cena’s rise to superstardom began soon after.

Now, more than decades later, Jensen wants to finish what his father never could. In his posts, he referenced the incident and made it clear that his pursuit of Cena isn’t about chasing headlines or stealing the spotlight – it’s about revenge. He’s spent recent weeks posting cryptic nods to that short-lived 2003 alliance, using phrases tied to Cena’s “Doctor of Thuganomics” persona to build anticipation.

The Last Time Is Now tournament will span all WWE brands – RAW, SmackDown, and NXT – and will even feature a few outside names not currently signed to the company. But for Jensen, the stakes are more personal than for anyone else in the field.

In the video package that WWE aired to announce this tournament, the following wrestlers were featured:

– GUNTHER

– The Miz

– Penta

– Drew McIntyre

– Solo Sikoa

– LA Knight

– Rusev

– Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio

– Bronson Reed

– Sheamus

– Carmelo Hayes

The official list of tournament participants has not yet been announced, but the appearance of these names in the video package has sparked speculation that they could be among the 16 competitors battling for the chance to face John Cena in his retirement bout.
