• “It’s good for the fans to get their a$$es kicked every once in a while” – Vince McMahon On Former WWE Stars Beating Up A Fan

As we noted in our previous article, former WWE wrestlers Trevor Murdoch and Lance Cade beat up a fan (and his relatives) who was bothering Randy Orton (who was the WWE Champion at the time) and was about to attack Orton from behind (tap here to read the full story).

Trevor & Lance got arrested for this and thought Vince McMahon was going to fire them.

They decided to tell Vince that they were only trying to protect Randy, who was injured at the time.

Trevor noted that him and Lance were left shocked after what Vince told them after hearing the story.

Below is what Murdoch told NBC Sports Boston:

“We were World Tag Team Champions at the time. We flew back thinking we were about to get fired. We’re World Tag Team Champions, we had just been arrested in a foreign country, we lost our jobs. Once Vince hears about this, we’re done.

We go to RAW the next day and we’re waiting for somebody to talk to us and give us the axe. We’re like, ‘If they fire us for this, we’re taking the tag belts home. They’re going to have to come to our house and get them. This is horsesh*t. We were looking out for the champ.’

If the guy would have hit Randy from behind, and he’s already hurt, there are cell phones. All it would have taken was a couple of people [snapping pictures], the World Champion is down by some stranger. It wouldn’t have been good for business.

We end up getting aggravated because nobody was talking to us. We tracked Vince down. ‘Vince, we have to talk to you.’ We laid it all out to him. ‘This is what happened, this is why we did what we did, these were the repercussions.’

He sat there for what felt like an eternity, but probably 15-20 seconds. He goes, ‘You know what boys, it’s good for the fans to get their a$$es kicked every once in a while [laughs]. Don’t worry about it, I’ll have the lawyers take care of it.’

We walked away, Lance and I looked at each other, ‘What just happened?’ We went from preparing ourselves to talk to our wives about not having a job to ‘it’s good for the fans to get their a$$es kicked.’”
