During an appearance on 92NY, a fan told John Cena that one of his matches against AJ Styles received a 4.5 star rating from Meltzer, and if he wants to have a rematch against Styles and try to get a 5-star rating this time.
Here’s what the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion said:
“So… how do I put this? I am much more concerned, when I perform for WWE, in how the audience as a whole feels about my performance, rather than one individual trying to grade me in a level of stars.
Not that it doesn’t matter, because that is a great way for those to try and get equity and try to get noticed. It’s a great ranking system and I really do appreciate it. I’m not knocking critics.
I’m just saying my process is to make sure that everybody who paid a ticket had a good night. And if that gets me a zero-star match, I still know in my heart of hearts that I entertained my audience that night.”

• During his interview on The Pat McAfee Show, WWE Champion Roman Reigns was asked if he wants to break John Cena’s 16 World Titles record in the company.
Here’s what The Tribal Chief said:
“I don’t take anything away from anybody. What John has done, as far as generations come, that is GOAT-level stuff, but for me, it’s always been about quality, not quantity.
John has a lot of title reigns, but he doesn’t have a title reign that can compare to what I’ve done in the last 4 years.
This quality that I’ve put on display, it speaks for itself. The business backs everything that has happened. It’s made this place more lucrative than it’s ever been, it’s made this place attractive.
My reign has gone through the most crazy and turbulent time in WWE history. That says a lot.
I will always take the quality of this run over going 14, 15, 16 times.”
