Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving John Cena and Sonya Deville.

• As we reported earlier, John Cena plans to retire from in-ring competition in WWE before he turns 50 years old, which means he plans to wrap up his career within the next 3 years.

During his appearance on Logan’s Paul Impaulsive podcast, Cena was asked if he’d like to have an executive role in WWE after his retirement, something similar to what Triple H does these days.

Here’s what the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion said:

“No. What I would love to give to the business is my time. I live very close to the Performance Center and I would like to go in as a guest and that way I’m not obligated and they’re not obligated in any way.

It’s stuff I do on my free time anyway. I love going in and picking people’s brains and have conversations. ‘So, who are you?’ ‘What does that have to do with anything?’ ‘Only everything. Let’s talk.’ I enjoy that.

Doing half a day there and then going back to normal life. I’m fortunate enough to have some other stuff going on and I’ll be focusing on that too, but I always want to be involved in the business.

I get so passionate about it and it’s something that I love and I think I have a few pieces of wisdom that need to be passed on, I don’t think it should die with me. I’ll try to do that the best I can.”

• Sonya Deville, who sustained a major ACL injury in July 2023, is now on the path to recovery.

As one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at the time of her injury, she is currently healing and preparing for her return to the wrestling ring.

She has been training at the WWE Performance Center as of late and PWInsider is reporting that she’s currently scheduled to return during the Women’s Royal Rumble match this Saturday night.
