• Old School ECW Veteran Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 48th birthday of Old School ECW Veteran Axl Rotten (Real name: Brian Knighton).

Rotten wrestled for Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling (fka Eastern Championship Wrestling) promotion from its early beginings in 1993 till he left in 1999.

While he did not win any championships during his time in ECW, his memorable rivalry against his (kayfabe/storyline) brother Ian Rotten, won Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s “PWI Feud of the Year” in 1995.

During a recent Q&A session, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle answered some fan questions regarding his favorite new wrestlers, possible future role in WWE & more.

Below are the highlights:

On if he has kept the Championships that he won with him:

“Unfortunately, I didn’t save any. I gave them either to charity or to Hall of Fames to display for fans. My wife disagrees with me, but I’ve never kept a shrine of my accomplishments because I don’t need a title to remind me of how good I was. Although, I wish I kept some of the apparel that I gave away, for my kids.”

On which new wrestlers he likes in WWE:

“I’m really starting to like Aleister Black and Ricochet, but not as a tag team. They’re good together, but I think they will shine more as singles wrestlers. There are talents that have yet to be used—like Apollo, Gable, and Roode. It’s a good time to watch new stars come out of the woodwork.”

On possible future role in WWE:

“I would like to teach the sports entertainers anything that I can to help them improve,” Angle wrote. “It will be fun and challenging. I may end up with a managerial role on TV down the line. It would be fun managing the talent.”
