The Biggest Party Of The Summer, SummerSlam 2020, is less than 4 weeks away, and it’s going to be the first ever SummerSlam without a live audience (real fans).
The rumors of many big matches were going around for the past couple of months, but some of them have been changed due to a change in WWE’s booking plans and the Coronavirus pandemic.
Here are 4 matches that were rumored to take place at this year’s SummerSlam, but got cancelled in the end.
4. Drew McIntyre vs. Brock Lesnar – WWE Championship Match
Brock Lesnar was last seen on WWE programming at WrestleMania 36 earlier this year, where he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre in 5 minutes.
Like the past few years, Lesnar was supposed to face his WrestleMania opponent at SummerSlam this year as well. However, he put over McIntyre strong in their one-off encounter at WrestleMania because he isn’t going to compete at this year’s SummerSlam due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
WWE uses The Beast as a special attraction to sell tickets for the event every year, but when there are no fans, there’s no need to bring him back.
The new plan is likely to be a Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton bout for the WWE Championship.
