• Major 1st Time Ever Match Pitched For WrestleMania 38

According to Fightful Select, Edge vs. AJ Styles has been pitched backstage in WWE for WrestleMania 38.

These two men have never faced each other in a singles match. They had an encounter during the Men’s Royal Rumble 2020 match, when Edge made his return to in-ring competition after 9 years, and the Rated-R Superstar laid out The Phenomenal One with a devastating Spear.

Styles sold that Spear in a such a way that he landed on his shoulder and got hurt.

During a recent appearance on the Out Of Character podcast, Styles confirmed that he wants to face Edge at WrestleMania 38.

Below is what the former WWE Champion said:

“Everybody has in mind the same guy that I do. We have the same idea. Will it happen? That’s not up to us.

So we’ll do what’s asked of us, we just hope we get the opportunity before both of us retire.”

On this week’s RAW, Styles defeated United States Champion Damian Priest in a non-title match. Now on next week’s RAW, AJ will face Priest for the US Title.

Edge was last seen on WWE programming at the Royal Rumble 2022 premium live event. He teamed up with his real-life wife Beth Phoenix to defeat The Miz & Maryse in a mixed tag team match.

Speaking of both men possibly squaring off at WrestleMania 38, below is what they did at WrestleMania 37 last year:

AJ Styles – Teamed up with Omos to defeat The New Day to win the RAW Tag Team Championship on Night 1. This Title win made Styles a WWE Triple Crown Champion & Grand Slam Champion.

Edge – Got pinned by Roman Reigns in the main event of Night 2 in a Triple Threat Match for the Universal Championship
