On this day in Pro Wrestling history in 1984, the World Wrestling Federation held a televised event in the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
Only the Women’s Title match aired LIVE on MTV, drawing a 9.0 Nielsen rating, thus becoming the most watched program in MTV’s history.
However, the rest of the show was taped and aired on the MSG Network.

• New Match Announced For SummerSlam 2019 With Stipulation
As we noted earlier today, Kevin Owens challenged Shane McMahon to a match at SummerSlam 2019 and noted that he’ll quit WWE if he loses.
On tonight’s episode of SmackDown, Shane O’Mac accepted the challenge and the match is on now.
Shane also announced that Owens will face “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns on tonight’s SmackDown. Drew McIntyre is going to be the special guest referee for this match, while Elias will be the special guest time keeper and Shane will be the special guest ring announcer.
