Let us take a look at the top 8 WWE News & Professional Wrestling stories of the hour:
8. Braun Strowman Getting A Singles Push?
As we saw during the Draft on this week’s SmackDown Live, “The Black Sheep” Braun Strowman was drafted to Raw while Eric Rowan & Bray Wyatt were drafted to SmackDown.
The move was made to give Strowman a singles push. As we noted before during the “Road to WrestleMania 32” earlier this year, WWE officials were planning to do one of the following decisions:
– Strowman being booked to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
– Face The Undertaker.
However, both of the above plans were nixed due to negative reaction towards Strowman by the fans.
But now, plans are back for a possible monster heel push for a legit monster who is 6’8 and 385 lbs.
Speaking of the Draft, WWE plans on doing this every year to change the roster a little bit and do fresh feuds. Below is a pic of the complete Raw & SmackDown Live rosters after the Draft:
7. The New Day Breaks A 10 Year Long Record
The current WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day have broken a 10 year old record, as they have now become the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of all time.
The previous record was held by Paul London & Brian Kendrick. They held the Title for 331 days. They won the Titles at Judgment Day 2006 and lost the Titles on the April 20, 2007 episode of SmackDown.
Note: The record for the longest World Tag Team Title reign is held by Demolition (478 days).
Speaking of The New Day, they are scheduled to drop the WWE Tag Team Titles at next month’s SummerSlam 2016. Below is the promo for the “Biggest Event of the Summer”:
It should be noted that the theme song of the PPV is same as that of last year’s SummerSlam 2015 (which was headlined by Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker).
