"Stone Cold" Steve Austin as WWF Champion

On this day in Pro Wrestling History in 2003, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin announced his retirement from Professional Wrestling in a WWE.com interview.

Steve Austin would go on to reveal his new role in the WWE, which was the General Manager of Monday Night Raw. Austin’s last match was at WrestleMania 19 where he lost to The Rock, thus ending their epic rivalry.

Over the years, there have been a lot of talks about Stone Cold returning for one last match. Reports that came out after WrestleMania 31 suggest that Vince McMahon wants Stone Cold to return for one last match and face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32.
