On this day in Pro Wrestling history on March 15, 19998, Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling aired ‘WCW Uncensored 1998’ LIVE on PPV from the Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, Alabama.

The highlight of this pay-per-view event was the former Mega Powers, Hulk Hogan & “The Macho Man” Randy Savage facting each other in a Steel Cage match.

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on March 15, 1991, the World Wrestling Federation held a televised house show at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.

This live event was televised on the MSG Network and featured Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan & Lord Alfred Hayes on commentary.

The show included matches on the road to the ‘WrestleMania VII’ PPV.

• Old School WWF Legend Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the birthday of Old School WWF Legend The Iron Sheik (Real name: Khosrow Vaziri).

The Iron Sheik wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation from 1983 until 1987, then briefly in 1988 and again from 1991 till 1992.

In December 1983 Sheik defeated Bob Backlund for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship, a title he lost a month later to “The Incredible” Hulk Hogan. The rest is history.

His last major match happened in 2001, when he won the famous ‘Gimmick Battle Royal’ at WWF WrestleMania X-Seven.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 by his old rival Sgt. Slaughter.

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (March 15, 1977) – Old School WWWF Legend Passed Away

On this day in 1977, we lost Old School WWWF Legend “Argentina” Antonino Rocca at the age of 55 after complications following a urinary infection.

Rocca wrestled for Vince McMahon Sr.’s Capitol Wrestling Corporation (which in 1963 was renamed “World Wide Wrestling Fderation”) from 1949 till the 70s.

In 1995 he was posthumously inducted into to WWF Hall of Fame (now known as WWE Hall of Fame) by then World Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Champion Diesel.
