WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair went completely off-script in their promo segment on last week’s SmackDown, as they barely used any lines that were given to them prior to the promo.
WrestleVotes has now provided details regarding the original content of the promo.
Charlotte was supposed to say the comparisons to Tiffany were always annoying, but now they’ve pi$$ed her off. She’d say it might be flattering for Tiffany, but it’s an insult to The Queen, and at WrestleMania, she’s taking back what’s hers.
Tiffany would interrupt, questioning why Charlotte thinks she still runs the
division after barely wrestling in 3 years. She’d tell her, “You call yourself a queen, but you don’t have a kingdom.”
Charlotte would fire back, saying the only reason Tiffany’s champ is because the Money In The Bank briefcase was a ski lift to the top, and now princess Tiffy is afraid of heights.
Tiffany’s final line was supposed to be: “Congrats on climbing back up… but falling 13 times doesn’t sound like a real champion. And at WrestleMania, you’re falling again.”
WrestleVotes also noted that Tiffany was likely warned in advance that Charlotte might go off-script, so Tiffany was prepared.
Update On If Winner Of Tiffany Stratton vs. Charlotte Flair Got Changed After Controversial Promo
According to a report from Fightful Select, the idea for a WrestleMania showdown between Flair and Stratton was locked in even before Charlotte returned to in-ring action from injury. And although their promo went off the rails, WWE officials are not alarmed by the situation.
When Fightful followed up on whether the unscripted back-and-forth had affected WWE’s plans, the response was clear: “The creative direction hasn’t changed in that regard.”
While they weren’t told who is scheduled to win the bout, insiders noted that there’s no major concern about how things will unfold once the two superstars collide at WrestleMania, which is currently expected to happen on Night 1 of the event.
It’s also worth noting that in WWE, the final decision about match outcomes is typically kept under wraps until the day of the show, meaning both Flair and Stratton—and the fans—will be waiting until WrestleMania itself to see how the drama ultimately plays out.
