Las Vegas may have landed WrestleMania 41, but the city’s partnership with WWE could be about more than just wrestling—it’s also about survival.
The Wrestling Observer explained that Las Vegas is facing serious economic challenges due to a major drop in international tourism:
“Vegas is hurting. That’s—which is actually the part of the story that no one’s talking about is—Vegas is hurting. And also that Vegas did so well that weekend with all those tourists. The thing that’s really hurting Vegas is that people from foreign countries are not coming.”
Even though WrestleMania 41 sold out both nights, the Observer noted the crowd looked much more domestic this year:
“Even at Mania, it felt like… even though Mania sold out both shows and there were a lot of people in town, I just felt like most of the people were from the United States.
Like, you didn’t have… I mean, I just remember Mania, meeting people from especially Europe, South America, you know, the Far East—I mean everywhere. And this year it was mostly different states. It was different.”
Las Vegas relies heavily on foreign visitors, and their absence is taking a toll. They also cited political reasons for the drop in international travel to the United States, which is adding more pressure to the city’s economy.
The Observer pointed to the Fontainebleau Hotel—WWE’s host hotel during WrestleMania weekend—as an example of the city’s struggles:
“I saw the Fontainebleau Hotel—the one that was the WWE host hotel, they had all those events—I mean, did you see the story about that? They had to lay off a bunch of employees. Yeah, they’re hurting bad. And they’re not the only ones.”
The Wrestling Observer previously reported that WWE is considering hosting WrestleMania in Las Vegas on a regular basis. It wouldn’t be every year, but the city could host it frequently—especially in years when it isn’t already hosting events like the Super Bowl or NCAA championships.
The current internal plan is to host WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium on April 18 and 19, 2026.
