Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton - The Rematch (September 24th WWE Live Event In Chicago)

3. Reason Behind Rematch Between Brock Lesnar & Randy Orton Happening At A WWE Live Event

As we noted before, Brock Lesnar & Randy Orton will battle it out in a rematch from their SummerSlam 2016 bout at a WWE Live Event on September 24, one night before Clash of the Champions 2016 PPV.

People have questioned why WWE booked such a big match at a Live Events instead of a PPV event, like the Clash of the Champions which takes place the next night. The reason behind this big match happening at a Live Event is that there’s a different pay for Lesnar for live event & PPV matches (as PPV matches are long and live event matches are short).

Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE asked Lesnar to work the live event in Chicago & he agreed. Lesnar chose Orton as his opponent based on who was a top draw among the wrestlers available that night and who were not booked for a match.

Another reason that match is not happening at Clash of the Champions 2016 is because it is a Raw exclusive PPV and interpromotional matches are only supposed to happen at the Big 4 PPVs: Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam & Survivor Series.
