WrestleMania 42 will no longer be held in New Orleans as originally expected. WWE is now in the final stages of shifting the location for next year’s biggest wrestling event back to Las Vegas.
WrestleMania 42 expected to take place in Las Vegas
While WWE has not made any formal announcements, WrestleVotes revealed that internal planning is already underway for a Las Vegas-based WrestleMania 42. A major factor contributing to the delay has been WWE’s effort to secure the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is considered a key part of replicating the fan and event experience that took place at WrestleMania 41.
“We’re told WWE is finalizing the remaining details of the move to Las Vegas for WrestleMania 42,” the report stated. “One key hurdle was hoping to secure the Las Vegas Convention Center, as the company looks to replicate the exact event model from this past year.”
The shift away from New Orleans comes as something of a surprise to many fans, especially considering the city’s strong history with WrestleMania. The Superdome previously hosted the event in 2014 and 2018, both times receiving praise for the production value and fan experience.
WrestleMania 42 Planning Hit by Venue Concerns
The report also pointed out internal discussions within WWE and TKO Group Holdings—the company that oversees WWE operations since the merger with UFC—as another factor behind the delay. Specifically, there was hesitation from TKO executives about using the available convention space at Mandalay Bay, which had been considered as a fallback option.
“Additionally, we’ve learned TKO wasn’t sold on using the available convention space at Mandalay Bay, which added to the delay in the announcement,” WrestleVotes noted.
This internal disagreement appears to have pushed WWE to pursue a more ambitious and familiar setup, one that echoes the full-scale spectacle of WrestleMania 41, which was also held in Las Vegas.
WrestleMania 42 Faces Fan Backlash Over Vegas Return
Despite the convenience and entertainment appeal of Las Vegas, not all fans are thrilled about the decision. According to the same report, WWE officials are “aware of the fan backlash” regarding the event potentially returning to Las Vegas so soon.
Many longtime fans had hoped to see WrestleMania 42 in a new or nostalgic city like New Orleans. However, it seems WWE is prioritizing a proven formula, high-end infrastructure, and logistics that worked well this year—especially under the new TKO regime.
While nothing is official yet, all signs now point toward Las Vegas once again becoming the home of WrestleMania, with an announcement likely to come once final venue contracts are secured.
