• Ric Flair Explains Why He Doesn’t Like Sami Zayn In The Bloodline
During the latest episode of his “To Be The Man” podcast, 2-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair was asked what he thinks about Sami Zayn being a part of Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns’ Bloodline.
Below is what The Nature Boy said:
“Well at first, I was very open about it that I didn’t even like him being with The Bloodline. I thought he diluted it. But I know in sitting and talking with Booker T, everybody looks at it differently.
I was with Booker T in New York at an autograph session and Booker thinks the sun rises and falls on the guy. Looking at Roman and what Bloodline is and how they conduct themselves, I found him bringing way too much comedy to it. But apparently, it’s worked.
Maybe that’s me being old school. But when you got a serious character like The Usos, who I don’t even think I have to argue are the best tag team right now in business as heels. Roman is over like nobody else. I didn’t like it because the kid is comical. His character is comical.”
During the post-Survivor Series 2022 press conference, Paul Heyman had the following to say about Zayn being a part of The Bloodline:
“The dichotomy that he has with every member of The Bloodline. How many times have you seen The Bloodline, absolutely cannot contain a laugh in the ring when we’re in front of a sold out arena with worldwide television cameras?
Sami brings a dynamic that none of us were prepared for, and we’re prepared for everything. What Sami also brings is a connection with the audience that none of us can have because we’ve been too busy being the top act in the entire industry for over 2 years.
Sami, to me, from my perspective and The Tribal Chief’s perspective, represents the member of the audience who gets his one chance to step in the ring and live out his dream, and does it so well, every week, that we say, ‘Do you mind coming back next Friday? We’d love to have you as part of the act.’ That’s who Sami has become.
He’s a guy who was going to get a guest spot on a TV series and he ends up being part of the cast because he’s just so damn passionate and so good at what he does.”
