• Ric Flair Issues Statement On His WWE Release

WWE officially announced today that they have released “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

According to Fightful Select, Flair was frustrated with WWE’s creative direction and asked for his release:

“Flair grew frustrated with certain booking decisions on the show, and contacted Vince McMahon directly about it to voice his issues and ask for his release.”

Flair issued the following statement regarding his release:

“I am officially able to respond to all the press related to my requested release from WWE, which they have given me. I want to make it really clear with everyone that I’m not upset with WWE at all.

They solely are responsible for putting me in the position of life that I’m in right now, where I’m seen in the brightest light ever. We have a different vision for my future. I wish them nothing but continued success! Thank you for everything! Nothing but respect!”

Flair was last seen on WWE programming earlier this year, where he was involved in somewhat of a romantic relationship with Lacey Evans on RAW. However, that storyline ended with Lacey’s real-life pregnancy.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani earlier this year, Flair said the following about his storyline with Lacey:

“In this instance, I didn’t (have a problem with it). The one thing I’ve learned is you’re not gonna win a war when someone got their mind made up and she most definitely didn’t like it.

But you know, the one thing I can say about me is, I always said yes. Because I didn’t wanna be that guy that was always going, ‘Oh god, that isn’t perfect for me.’

I don’t know if you’ve followed my career, but I’ve been buried in the desert by Russo. I’ve had my head shaved. I mean, if you look at the other top guys that are in the industry, whether it’s Shawn or Hunter or Undertaker or Bret Hart, whatever, nobody has gone through all this. I’ve done everything.”
