Ric Flair's 5 Greatest Opponents

3. “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes

One of the greatest Feuds in the History of the National Wrestling Alliance would be Dusty Rhodes vs. Ric Flair, a storyline rivalry that went on for 8 consecutive years, from 1981 until 1988.

In fact a very young Nature Boy Ric Flair won his first ever World Title on September 17, 1981 by defeating Dusty Rhodes in Kansas City, Missouri.

They would then go on to headline both, NWA Starrcade 1984: The Million Dollar Challenge, and NWA Starrcade 1985: The Gathering, with Dusty not being able to win the World Title on either occasion, tho both PPV Main Events ending in controversial finishes.

The American Dream finally beat Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship during the Great American Bash Tour on July 26, 1986 but only hold it for 14 days until losing it back to Flair at an untelevised House Show.

The Flair vs. Dusty Storyline not only had a lot of great in ring battles, but also became special because of their intense promos towards each other.
