On this day in 2001, the World Wrestling Federation aired an episode of their weekly TV show ‘WWF SmackDown!’.
It was broadcasted from the MCI Center in Washington, District of Columbia and featured pre-taped matches & storyline segments on the road to the ‘WWF SummerSlam 2001’ PPV.

• Roman Reigns’ Real SummerSlam 2019 Opponent Revealed
During the final segment of this week’s SmackDown, “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns was scheduled to reveal his SummerSlam 2019 opponent, but someone tried to hurt him.

Some fans have pointed out that former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy (who hasn’t done anything since being drafted to SmackDown) was seen in the same backstage area where the above shown accident happened with Reigns.

Reigns & Murphy were both shown in the final shot on SmackDown, so this began speculation that Murphy is the one who tried to attack Reigns and we’re now going to get Reigns vs. Murphy at SummerSlam 2019.
However, that’s not the case.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE showed Murphy in the final shot to throw fans away and that Reigns’ opponent at SummerSlam 2019 is going to be Daniel Bryan (who has been teasing a career-altering announcement since Extreme Rules PPV).
