JANUARY 16, 1999
ECW hosted a supercard called House Party 1999. None of the titles changed hands, but it featured one of Sid’s few ECW appearances, when he defeated Skull Von Krush (Big Vito).
JANUARY 16, 2000
On this day WCW gave us their annual Souled Out Live PPV but unfortunately WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bret “Hitman” Hart couldn’t defend his title, as he was out with an injury, that eventually ended up causing him to retire.
The title was vacant and Chris Benoit defeated Sid in the main event to win his first World Title. Sid’s foot was under the rope though, so the decision was reversed the next night on Nitro (when Benoit had already left the promotion).
