Hollywood actor Chris Hemsworth was set to portray WWF Legend ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan in a biopic about The Hulkster’s life in and outside of the ring.

In 2020, Hogan saw some photos of how jacked Hemsworth is and tweeted the following:

“He’s already there! He’s ready BROTHER!!! But is he good looking enough to play me lol, lol, lol. HH”

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet in 2023, Hemsworth revealed that he has no idea what’s happening with the planned movie. Here’s what Hemsworth said:

“Let’s hope. I don’t know what’s happening with it at the moment, but there’s a good story there. I’d love to tell it. I know Todd Phillips has been deep in the world of The Joker, but we’ve had conversations, and yeah, fingers crossed.”

At first, it was believed that the biopic got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that’s not the case anymore.

In an update, director Todd Phillips has revealed that this biopic won’t be coming out. Here’s what he said during an interview with Variety:

“I love what we were trying to do, but that’s not going to come together for me.”

While this one isn’t happening, there’s another biopic on Hogan that’s in the works, called “Killing Gawker”, which will dramatize Hogan’s infamous legal battle with the media company Gawker. However, the film has already sparked controversy, with reports suggesting that Hogan might consider legal action against the producers, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, if the film crosses certain boundaries.

Hogan sued Gawker for publishing excerpts of a private tape. The case, which lasted three years, targeted not only Gawker but also its employees and affiliates. Ultimately, the jury ruled in Hogan’s favor, awarding him over $140 million in damages, which resulted in Gawker’s bankruptcy.

Acclaimed director Gus Van Sant, known for films like “Good Will Hunting” and “Milk,” has been chosen to direct “Killing Gawker.” The biopic will focus on the details of Hogan’s lawsuit and its aftermath. In an interesting casting choice, Ben Affleck will portray Hulk Hogan, while Matt Damon will play Peter Thiel, the tech billionaire who financially backed Hogan’s lawsuit against Gawker.

According to TMZ, Hogan is reportedly “indifferent” about the film at this point, as he has no involvement in the project. However, sources connected to Hogan have indicated that if the movie delves into areas that a jury has already determined were protected by his right to privacy, he won’t hesitate to take legal action.

TMZ’s sources also mention that Hogan “is in a really good place in his life right now,” with a new wife, a renewed spiritual outlook, and an exciting business opportunity with his Real American Beer. He’s also engaged in charitable work, supporting a homeless shelter in Tampa by providing financial assistance to improve the residents’ quality of life.

As of now, Hogan has had no communication with Matt Damon or Ben Affleck regarding the project, so it’s a waiting game to see how the movie develops. However, if anything crosses the line, Hogan is ready to take action.
