• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (August 8, 1998) – WCW ROAD WILD 1998

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on August 8, 1998, Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling aired ‘WCW Road Wild 1998’ LIVE on PPV from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota.

This was the third out of a total of 4 annual WCW events (1996-1999) from the Sturgis Harley Davidson Rally, and while all four events are usually destroyed by the critics for not earning a cent in revenue money because it was totally free for the bikers in attendance, they were still pretty cool & entertaining to watch for a fan, as a big outdoor event always had kind of a special feeling to it.

Here are the results:

Meng defeated The Barbarian

The Public Enemy defeated The Dancing Fools

Raven’s Rules: Saturn defeated Raven & Kanyon

#1 contender for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Psychosis

WCW World Television Championship: Stevie Ray (c) defeated Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Steve McMichael defeated Brian Adams

WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Juventud Guerrera defeated Chris Jericho (c)

Goldberg won the nWo Invitational Battle Royal

Diamond Dallas Page & Jay Leno defeated Hollywood Hogan & Eric Bischoff

• The Hurricane Takes A Shot At RETRIBUTION Members

As seen during the final moments of last night’s SmackDown, the members of the RETRIBUTION faction invaded the show and torn down the ring.

They all looked small in terms of size and this led to Old School WWF Veteran The Hurricane (Shane Helms) tweeting the following:

“Why do they all look like they’re 15?”

Lance Storm then replied:

“They all look 5’6”

A fan then called out Hurricane for being the same size, to which he replied:

“I’m 6 ft and currently 230. Try again?”
