• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (May 5, 2002) – Old School WCW Referee Passed Away

On this day in 2002, we lost Old School WCW Referee Randy Anderson at the age of 42 due to testicular cancer.

Randy Anderson was a professional wrestling referee during the 70s, 80s & 90s, working for several territories such as Mid-South Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Florida and Jim Crockett Promotions.

When Ted Turner bought Jim Crockett Promotions in late 1988 and renamed it World Championship Wrestling, Randy stayed with the promotion until 1999.

If you watched WCW Monday Nitro in 1997, you will probably remember when Eric Bischoff fired him (storyline wise).

† REST IN PEACE RANDY ANDERSON!

• The Miz’s Father Got Injured At WrestleMania 35

During a recent appearance on The Jobbing Out podcast, George Mizanin (The Miz’s father) revealed that he got injured at WrestleMania 35 after taking a knee from Shane McMahon.

Below is what George said:

“I wasn’t supposed to get in the ring [at WrestleMania 35].

And he was calling me into the ring. And I thought, ‘What’s going on? I’m not supposed to get in the ring.’ And I got in the ring and that’s where he actually knee’d me. I broke a rib. And I guess I gave him a black eye. And I guess Michael had three staples put into his head that day.”
