CM Punk was fired from All Elite Wrestling last month after an investigation was carried out into the fight between him and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry backstage at AEW All In back in August.
There have been rumors about Punk wanting to return to WWE, and those rumors are gaining momentum as Survivor Series comes closer, because the Premium Live Event is scheduled to take place in Punk’s hometown of Chicago this year.
Many top stars in WWE are reportedly against a Punk return, but some are also open to it and see it as a good business opportunity.
In the past, top talents like Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and AJ Styles have publicly expressed their dislike for the former AEW World Champion.
Fightful Select shared the following quote from a top WWE star about Punk possibly returning to WWE:
“He wouldn’t be able to pull any of his sh*t here. There’s nobody here he could jump without getting his a$$ handed to him.”
The same talent also stated that WWE needs to have a proper talk with Punk if he wants to return to the company, and not with the talents already in the company.
Another top talent stated that they believe WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H would not risk the negativity that Punk would bring, but then recalled that it wouldn’t be the first time that he would bring in someone with baggage since being in control.
The general feeling among talents is that Punk needs to make amends with several talents if he wants to return to WWE.
Within AEW, one top wrestler stated that before Punk’s brawl with The Elite last year, he would still talk about how much he didn’t like WWE, Triple H and Vince McMahon. They said that they would be surprised if he went back there.
Another AEW talent stated that Punk is now in a “much less forgiving situation from a career perspective.”
