In the main event of WrestleMania 24, The Undertaker defeated Edge to capture the World Heavyweight Championship and extended his then undefeated WrestleMania streak to 16-0.
During his victory celebration, there was some malfunction with the pyrotechnics, as a hot cable for pyrotechnics was sent flying into audience members in the upper seating bowl of the stadium.
45 People were injured due to this, while some got hospitalized. This happened when the cable which was carrying the fireworks snapped, which resulted in the fireworks exploding in the top rows.
WWE released a statement that they would investigate this incident, but the results of the investigation were never released.
