Below are a couple of top AEW news stories of the day.
• According to Sean Ross Sapp on the Fightful Select Q&A, ROH World Champion Chris Jericho’s current AEW contract will expire at the end of this year, with his new deal likely coming with reduced salary:
“Jericho, by the end of the year when his deal is up, will probably be on an altered deal. This will be one of his first deals that goes down in money in quite a while.”
Jericho has been a cornerstone of All Elite Wrestling since its inception. As the inaugural AEW World Champion, he immediately established the promotion’s credibility. His early run was defined by the formation of the Inner Circle, a faction that delivered some of AEW’s most memorable moments.
Jericho’s ability to reinvent himself has been a constant throughout his AEW tenure. He’s transitioned from the arrogant “Le Champion” to the leader of The Learning Tree, showcasing his versatility and adaptability. While some storylines have received mixed reviews from fans, Jericho’s commitment to creating compelling television is undeniable.
Recently, Jericho has added another chapter to his storied career by capturing the ROH World Championship. This run has seen him engage in intense rivalries, further solidifying his status as a wrestling icon.
His current focus on the ROH title shows his dedication to helping grow the ROH brand, which is under the same ownership as AEW. Whether as a champion, a faction leader, or a controversial figure, Chris Jericho continues to be a driving force in AEW.
