• Top WWE Star Says He’s In A Similar Situation To Brock Lesnar

John Cena’s legendary career came to an end at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he was forced to tap out to GUNTHER’s Sleeper Hold. The shocking finish immediately sparked heavy backlash from fans, both inside the arena and online, with many criticizing WWE for having The GOAT submit in his retirement match.

The reaction has put immense pressure on The Ring General, who now finds himself at the center of one of the most controversial moments in modern WWE history. While some fans praised the decision as a passing-of-the-torch moment, others compared it to past polarizing booking choices, most notably Brock Lesnar ending The Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak.

Speaking on TMZ’s Inside The Ring podcast, GUNTHER addressed the backlash and explained why he believes the situation mirrors what Brock Lesnar faced over a decade ago. He acknowledged the outrage surrounding Cena’s loss, admitted the pressure that now comes with it, and said it’s ultimately on him to justify the decision through his future performances.

“I think you can make it because I think back to then it was a similar situation, there was a real outrage about it, and it was the right thing back then because Brock, he’s still in the company, and was the mountain to climb for 10 years now.

It is a similar situation that also comes with a bit of pressure because at the end of the day what I achieved that night is a gift and it’s up to me to protect that gift and keep it up, and that’s the challenge for me now, and judge me after, how I did.”

GUNTHER is expected to retire Brock Lesnar in the future, according to the latest reports.

• AEW star calls “The Nose” Triple H a “D**k”

MVP’s relationship with WWE deteriorated towards the end of his run with the company, ultimately leading to his departure in the summer of 2024. He later arrived in AEW, where he reunited with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin to form The Hurt Syndicate.

Since leaving the company, MVP has not been shy about voicing his frustrations with WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H, frequently criticizing his leadership style and professionalism. Those comments continued during a recent interview, where MVP openly compared Triple H’s approach to creative with that of AEW President Tony Khan.

Speaking on Q101 Chicago, MVP explained that the key difference between the two lies in how much freedom and collaboration talent is given. He described Tony Khan as someone who welcomes ideas from wrestlers, while portraying Triple H as far more rigid and controlling behind the scenes.

“[Tony] allows a lot more input, and Tony has his vision that he wants, and he works with the talent and allows a lot more input from the talent into what creative path is going to happen.

Whereas ‘The Nose,’ he is a little bit more dictatorial. Emphasis on ‘dic.’ ‘This is what we’re doing and this is how it’s going to be, and this is what I want.’ Whereas Tony could say, ‘Well, this is what I want.’ And you can say, ‘Okay, Tony, but what about if we put this on it?’ Tony invites the input. Whereas with that guy, there’s only a handful of people that I would say are allowed to have that kind of input.

You could debate it good or bad, but I think Tony… I’m just going to be blunt. I think Tony is just a better human being. A better person all around than this guy. So, definitely a better person to work for, and a much better working environment.”
