• UFC Champion Stripped Of His Title, Conor McGregor Reacts
This Saturday night, Charles Oliveira was scheduled to defend the UFC Lightweight Championship against Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 274.
However, Oliveira missed weight by 0.5 lbs, as he came in at 155.5 lbs, and was stripped of the Title, thus becoming the 1st UFC Champion to be stripped of the Title for missing weight.
The fight will still happen, but only Gaethje will have the opportunity to win the vacant Title if he wins. Oliveira won’t become champion again even if he wins this fight.
Gaethje said the following about this situation:
“Same mission. That sh*t doesn’t matter. It’s not going to affect one thing tomorrow night. I’m here to knock him out. I was here to knock him out before he didn’t make weight.
I f**king think it’s ridiculous but here I am. I’m going to knock his a$$ out. I promise you.”
Oliveira said:
“These things happen. You can’t explain God. The champion has a name and it’s Charles Oliveira and I’m going to shock the world tomorrow.”
Former UFC 2-Division Champion Conor McGregor retweeted the following video memes after this news broke:
