Undertaker Reveals Who’s The Shawn Michaels Of This Era

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania 35

Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest in-ring performers of all time.

During a Q&A session on his Six Feet Under podcast, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker was asked who he considers the Shawn Michaels of this era.

The Undertaker picked former WWE Champion & TNA Legend AJ Styles. Here’s what The Phenom said about The Phenomenal One:

“[AJ Styles] ticks all the boxes. While I don’t know if there will ever be another Shawn Michaels, AJ Styles possesses the ability to work seamlessly with anyone.

Despite not being physically imposing, AJ can elevate any opponent and deliver a convincing, top-notch performance.

That’s kind of the reason why the whole Boneyard match happened (at WrestleMania 36) is because I didn’t get a chance to work with AJ and that lured me.

I really do (hold him in such high regard) as a human being and as a performer.”

In 2010, Undertaker defeated Shawn Michaels in the main event of WrestleMania 26 in a “Streak vs. Career” match and retired HBK.

In 2020, Undertaker defeated AJ Styles in the main event of WrestleMania 36 – Night 1 in a Boneyard Match and finally retired from in-ring competition.

Undertaker has noted in interviews that he was thinking about retiring after Extreme Rules 2019, because of how good his tag team match was on that night, but then Styles approached him regarding a program with him.

The Deadman said he only worked in 2020 because of Styles, and wouldn’t have returned for anyone else.
