Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho were scheduled to take on Ricky Starks and Big Bill (fka Big Cass in WWE) for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at the Worlds End PPV on December 30th, but it looks like this won’t happen anymore.

Omega announced the following:

“I can’t really sugar coat this. I’m out indefinitely. I tried to keep pushing past the pain for as long as I could until it became too much.

Luckily doctors caught me when they did. I’ll be here so in the mean time, please enjoy wrestling!”

Sean Ross Sapp later reported that Omega is dealing with the same disease that Brock Lesnar suffered from during his UFC days – Diverticulitis.

According to the Wrestling Observer, Omega was rushed to the hospital due to severe pain, initially thinking it was related to a previous hernia issue. Despite continued discomfort and bloating, he continued training and even participated in a match.

However, the situation worsened, and he eventually sought medical attention. It was discovered that he had diverticulitis, a serious condition that could have led to severe complications if not treated promptly.

Omega is reported to be fine for now, but the duration of his absence is uncertain.

During the ROH Final Battle post-show press conference, AEW President Tony Khan said the following about Omega:

“The most important thing is he got help from the doctors at the right time and didn’t wait any longer because he was in a lot of pain. We were all worried about him.”
