According to PWInsider, last night’s WWE SmackDown at Madison Square Garden drew the biggest live gate (revenue from ticket sales) for an event in the history of this famous arena.

There was a big sense of pride backstage among WWE Executives after reaching this milestone.

The show was sold out with 13,528 fans in attendance. The show featured some big storylines, including the “Trial of the Tribal Chief”, which featured the aftermath of Roman Reigns getting pinned after 3.5 years, and the return of Edge later in the show, who also wrestled a match.

Vince McMahon was backstage at this show, but he didn’t make any major changes to the show (which hasn’t been the case in the last few weeks).

Here’s what PWInsider reported about it:

“Any changes were minimal as the original plans for the show stayed basically intact with the exception of some time cuts.”

The opening Bloodline segment “Trial of The Tribal Chief” was scheduled to be 20 minutes long, but somehow ended up lasting the first 40 minutes of the show (including the part where they showed Jimmy Uso getting loaded into an Ambulance after a commercial break).

This resulted in other segments getting cut short, including Karrion Kross’ match against AJ Styles, which only lasted 1 minute & 46 seconds.
