Below are a couple of top WWE & UFC news stories of the day, involving Ronda Rousey and Vince McMahon:
• UFC recently announced that they will hold their first ever event in Saudi Arabia in March 2024.
According to the Wrestling Observer and ESPN, word going on is that Vince McMahon played a big role in helping UFC land a big money deal with Saudi Arabia, as the UFC-Saudi Arabia announcement was made after the WWE-UFC merger to form TKO.
In 2018, Vince struck a 10-year big money deal with Saudi Arabia, where WWE is contracted to hold two big premium live events in the Kingdom every year, where they get paid around $50 million per event, which is more than what WWE makes from WrestleMania.
During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, UFC CEO Dana White called Vince McMahon an incredible business partner, and noted that McMahon has already added value to the UFC brand.
• Ronda Rousey announced her retirement on Social Media after her loss to Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules Match at WWE SummerSlam 2023.
However, her retirement didn’t last long as she competed in a match on the indy scene on Thursday night.
At the Lucha VaVOOM event at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles, California, Rousey teamed up with her longtime friend, current AEW wrestler Marina Shafir, to defeat the team of Taya Valkyrie and Brian Kendrick. Rousey made Kendrick tap out to pick up the win for her team. Tap here to watch this match.
WWE has now officially moved Ronda to their alumni section. She is a Free Agent.
With that being said, Ronda Rousey has been announced for Wrestling REVOLVER’s “UNREAL” event on November 16th in Los Angeles, where her next match will take place.
While her match hasn’t been announced yet, she is expected to team up with Marina Shafir again.
