• Why Rey Mysterio’s Son Dominick Won’t Work In NXT
As seen on this week’s episode of RAW, former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio lost 2-0 to Andrade in a 2 out of 3 falls match.
In a backstage interview after the match, Rey got emotional about the loss and says he needs support from his family.
According to the Wrestling Observer, this angle is expected to lead to Dominick’s in-ring debut in WWE:
“Regarding Dominick Gutierrez, who was on television as part of the Rey vs. Joe angle, they want him to wrestle and this Mysterio angle may play a part in this. Right now the feeling is he’s not ready for in-ring on this stage, but the hope is he’ll be ready in 2020.”
According to Tom Colohue, WWE officials don’t feel Dominick should work in NXT and that bringing him up straight to the main roster in his father’s storyline is the correct storyline for him:
“WWE don’t necessarily believe that NXT is the best way to get him over. Instead, a storyline involving his father is considered a better option.”
