All Elite Wrestling fired CM Punk after an investigation was carried out into the fight between Punk and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry backstage at AEW All In last Sunday.

AEW President Tony Khan opened Saturday’s episode of Collision in Chicago by addressing his decision to fire Punk.

He said that Punk endangered the lives of innocent people backstage, which is why he had to terminate his contract. He also stated that he felt endangered at a pro wrestling show for the first time ever because of Punk.

“Never have I ever felt that my security, my safety, my life was in danger at a wrestling show.”

During Punk’s fight with Perry, monitors fell on Khan and Punk almost got aggressive with him when he was separated from Perry. Punk also had some harsh words for Khan on the day of All In.

Khan also addressed fans before the show went on air and got booed by the Chicago crowd. Some fans chanted “Shut the f**k up” at him.

According to PWInsider, there is a mixed reaction in AEW to Punk’s release. Some people are disappointed about it, while some are very happy about it.

Some people are just happy that a decision has finally been made and now they can focus on AEW and the shows.

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff took to Twitter to praise Khan for finally getting rid of the former 2-time AEW World Champion.

Here’s what Easy E tweeted:

“Just heard the news. In my opinion, Tony Khan made the right call. A tough one, but the right one. #Respect”
