Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Alberto Del Rio and Riley Osborne.
• WWE Signs Alberto Del Rio
WWE has not yet finalized its deal to acquire AAA, but the company is already signing some of the top names from the legendary Mexican promotion. According to Super Luchas Editor-in-Chief Ernesto Ocamo, several AAA stars have signed with WWE as part of the growing partnership.
The list includes Alberto El Patron, Hijo de Dr. Wagner, Hijo del Vikingo, La Parka, La Hiedra, Lady Flammer, Lady Maravilla, and Niño Hamburguesa.
The most surprising name is Alberto El Patron, formerly known in WWE as Alberto Del Rio. Despite past legal issues and multiple controversies, he is now expected to wrestler under WWE’s banner through AAA. It’s unclear if he will appear on WWE television.
Del Rio’s history with WWE has been rocky. He was released in 2014 after a backstage incident with a social media manager, reportedly over a racist remark. He returned in 2015 but left again in 2016, following a Wellness Policy violation and creative frustrations. In 2020, he was arrested and charged with kidnapping and $exual assault. The charges were dropped in 2021, but the case damaged his standing in the industry.
Other names on the list reflect a strong mix of champions and well-known talent. Hijo del Vikingo is considered one of the top high-flyers in the world. La Parka and Lady Flammer also bring star power and legacy status, showing WWE’s intent to strengthen its presence in Latin America.
The partnership is already being felt. Rey Mysterio recent appeared via video at AAA’s first show under WWE’s influence, saying, “The future flies here.”

• WWE Released NXT Wrestler For “Non-Wrestling Things”
Riley Osborne is no longer with WWE. The former Chase U member was among the latest names released from the company, but according to a new report, there may be more behind his exit than just creative direction.
The Wrestling Observer reported that Riley’s release wasn’t due to anything wrestling-related. “Certain things that happened with him, and it kind of led to them taking him off television.”
The Observer added that they wouldn’t call it “political,” but made clear the decision came down to “non-wrestling things.”
Osborne signed with WWE in 2022 and made his in-ring debut in early 2023 on NXT Level Up. He later became part of Chase U alongside Andre Chase, Duke Hudson, and Thea Hail.
Despite becoming a popular act in NXT, Osborne was let go. As part of his WWE release, he’ll need to wait 30 days before signing or wrestling with another company.
