4. Cruiserweight Champion Being Crowned During The Finals Of The Cruiserweight Classic Tournament? Tajiri On Raw?

As we noted before, Stephanie McMahon announced on Raw that the Cruiserweight Division will be returning and it will be an exclusive part of Monday Night Raw. Below is what WWE posted regarding this:

“In an extremely bold move, Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon opened a whole new wing of the New Era by announcing that – following the success of the WWE Network exclusive Cruiserweight Classic – Monday Night Raw will be the exclusive host to a trailblazing WWE Cruiserweight division!

Although little is known about which competitors might be a part this exciting initiative, it is clear that newly-empowered Raw General Manager Mick Foley plans to utilize the fast-moving, high-flying athletes to help bring Raw to new heights. How high will the longest running episodic television show in history soar? Find out each and every week at 8/7 C on USA Network.”

The question now is will the Cruiserweight Championship return as well? Plan is that the winner of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic tournament will be crowned the new Cruiserweight Champion.

WWE has already signed Kota Ibushi & Gran Metalik to exclusive deals. The following CWC wrestlers are expected to be signed as well:

– Zack Sabre Jr.

– Lince Dorado

– Jack Gallagher

– Akira Tozawa

– Cedric Alexander

The WWE Cruiserweight Classic has a weight limit of 205 lbs instead of 220 lbs. This was made to make sure most of WWE’s top stars don’t fall in the Cruiserweight category (but still most of the top wrestlers competing for the Heavyweight Title fall in the Cruiserweight category). It will be interesting to see how many current wrestlers on the main roster become a part of the Cruiserweight divison as the current WWE Champion Dean Ambrose also falls in the Cruiserweight category (he’s billed at 225 lbs but in reality he’s around 190 lbs).

The return of the Cruiserweight division on Raw could mean that CWC competitors and former WWE wrestlers Brian Kendrick & Tajiri might be coming to Raw as well.
