Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring The Bloodline and Dakota Kai.

• On the August 2nd episode of SmackDown, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa arrived in Cleveland as the WWE Tag Team Champions, but Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga of The Bloodline emerged victorious to become the new champions.

Even though Jacob is currently absent from TV, the latest episode on August 9th revealed the updated status of the Tag Team Titles. Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa were holding the WWE Tag Team Champions, with Tonga Loa stepping in for the injured Fatu.

This raised questions among fans about the status of the tag team titles, originally won by Jacob and Tama.

The Wrestling Observer clarified that Solo Sikoa decides the tag team champions. This arrangement allows Tonga, Loa, and Fatu (once he returns) to defend the titles:

“The champions are whoever two men Solo picks, so Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa can defend them, Jacob Fatu when he comes back can defend them. They never did explain this on television but this is the WWE explanation.”

• Since their debut in 2022, Damage CTRL has been a dominant force in WWE. A few months back, Asuka, a member of the faction, was reported to be injured. On this week’s RAW, it was revealed that Dakota Kai also suffered an injury.

Kai is expected to be sidelined for 8 to 10 weeks due to a torn meniscus and will undergo surgery to address the injury.

On the last week’s episode of RAW, Kai was scheduled to compete against Sonya Deville. Before the match could start, Kai was attacked, resulting in her clutching her knee in pain.

Dakota did not appear on this week’s show, where her teammates, Kairi Sane and IYO SKY, faced off against Sonya’s team members, Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler, in a #1 contender’s match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.
