The Wrestling word is buzzing about Ronda Rousey breaking kayfabe and that’s exactly what WWE officials wanted with this worked shoot promo.
However, creating a buzz within the Wrestling World wasn’t the main goal of this angle.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE’s main goal with this shoot promo was to create a buzz outside of the Wrestling World and they have succeeded in doing so as this angle is being covered by mainstream media, MMA media, etc.
WWE officials wanted to do this controversial angle with Rousey because Rousey is a mainstream figure and even non-WWE fans know who she is and they felt it’s the right thing to do to get the maximum publicity possible for the first-ever Women’s WrestleMania main event.
