8. CM Punk

CM Punk was one of the top names in WWE when he walked out back in 2014.

After more than 5 years, Punk made his return to WWE programming in November of 2019. Although he’s not directly associated with WWE, Punk is still working as an analyst on WWE Backstage on FS1.

Punk’s debut on WWE Backstage has reignited the hope of his in-ring return among many fans. It’s pretty ironic that he isn’t even signed with WWE yet he’s in the list of the five favourite wrestlers who are expected to win the Royal Rumble match, according to the betting odds.

While chances of Punk’s return at the Royal Rumble are quite low, we can never count him out. After all, the Royal Rumble match is meant to be surprising.

7. John Morrison

Since leaving the WWE in 2011, John Morrison wrestled in different promotions including Impact Wrestling and Lucha Underground which has made him a bigger deal than he was back in 2011.

On WWE Backstage, Ryan Satin confirmed that The Guru Of Greatness had signed with WWE. The news was broken by PWInsider a couple of months ago.

Morrison has been training for his in-ring return at the Performance Center and looks in pretty good shape. He could return to the ring anytime now. The Royal Rumble match would make a pretty great return match for him in the WWE.

Morrison could exchange blows with different wrestlers to remove the ring rust he may have gotten over the past few months.
