5 Cases of Don't Bring Your Wife Into The Wrestling Business

4. Steve McMichael

After being a part of the WrestleMania XI Main Event where he was in Lawrence Taylor’s corner against Bam Bam Bigelow, former 1986 Chicago Bears Super Bowl Champion Steve McMichael joined WCW World Championship Wrestling in 1995 to do commentary for their new weekly Monday Nitro Show.

Little less than a year later, he betrayed fellow American Football player and Tag Team partner for the night Kevin Greene during a match at the Great American Bash, thus joining the famous Four Horsemen faction.

While being a Horseman, McMichael always had his real life wife Debra McMichael, whom he had married in 1985, in his corner, up until she turned on him (kayfabe) and joined Jeff Jarrett.

The couple actually divorced in October 1998 and while he stayed with the promotions for a couple more months, Debra instantly left WCW and jumped ship to the WWF.

Despite never dating in real life, she was again paired with on screen boyfriend Jeff Jarrett, but it was a little later in her WWF run, when she started dating another Wrestler, non other than “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.

Debra and Austin ended up being married from September 2000 up until they divorced in July 2002.
