Jimmy Hart, Hulk Hogan’s longtime manager and one of his closest friends, is mourning the sudden loss of the 2-time WWE Hall of Famer after learning of his death Thursday morning. Speaking to USA TODAY Sports, Hart revealed he was “devastated” by the news, admitting it came as a complete shock despite Hogan dealing with lingering complications from a recent neck surgery.

Just two days before Hogan’s passing, Hart had publicly shared that the 12-time World Champion was doing “phenomenal,” offering fans reassurance about his condition. Privately, he had been receiving regular updates from Hogan’s personal assistant and felt hopeful about his recovery.

“I’m just so devastated right now,” Hart said. “I still can’t believe it’s true.”

Hart described the moment the news hit him. He was sitting alone in a Tampa-area parking lot, staring across the street at a pizza place. Overwhelmed with emotion, he found himself wishing Hogan would simply walk out of the restaurant and hand him a pizza, like nothing had happened.

Their last conversation took place about two weeks ago, and it ended like so many of their previous talks. Hogan reminded Hart of his old band The Gentrys and their 1965 hit song, “Keep on Dancing.”

“Remember, keep on dancing,” Hogan told him – for the final time.

“When you think of wrestling, because everybody grew up with him, you think of Hulk Hogan,” Hart said, reflecting on the legacy of his friend.

The two had shared decades of history together, both on screen and off, and Hart’s heartbreak is echoed by countless fans and peers across the wrestling world.
