WWE Ruthless Aggression Era Legend John Cena was interviewed on ‘Hart To Heart’ and revealed that his professional wrestling career basically happened by accident.

Here’s what The Doctor of Thuganomics had to say:

“When I was about to join the military, a buddy of mine says ‘yo you know we trained to be wrestlers over in Orange County, you ever thought about going down?’.

I was like m*********, there’s a school? We can do this? Yes of course.

We went to a place called LA Boxing in Orange County. I remember pulling up and seeing the ring through the window. I saw it and I was like this is what I’m going to do.

It wasn’t like I’m going to be The Rock. I was like I’m going to exist out here. Do this as long as I can as a weekend hobby and never thought it would be anything.

So like it happened by accident.”

John Cena made his WWE debut on the June 27th 2002 episode of ‘SmackDown!’, where he answered Kurt Angle’s open challenge.

Cena then became an evil rapper towards the end of that year, which eventually made him a big star and turned him back into a babyface in late 2003.

John won his first World Title in 2005 when he defeated JBL in the co-main event of WrestleMania 21 to become the new WWE Champion … and the rest – so they say – is history.
