Old School Wrestling Flashback – Episode 1: Undertaker Shoots on Vince, Arrival of “The Narcissist”, Biggest TV Audience For Any Wrestling Show Ever

Old School Wrestling Flashback - Episode 1

3. “The Narcissist” Arrives

In 1992 Ted Turner’s WCW started an awkward Anti-Steroid Program, where the Athletes wouldn’t have to take pi$$ tests, but would be punished (fined) based on them looking as if they were on Anabolic Steroids (“roided up”, looking unnatural).

Lex Luger was someone who was on the juice during his entire career, but he knew all the various tricks, how to cheat the pi$$ tests, and believe me, there were plenty of them, but with this new rule and his great Physique with <5% body fat, HE WAS SCREWED!! So it was time for him to leave the company.

Originally he was signed by Vince McMahon to compete for his newest project, the WBF World Bodybuilding Federation in February of 1992, right after dropping the WCW World Title to Sting at SuperBrawl II. But with the WBF closing its doors in July of 1992, Luger was gonna be used as a Professional Wrestler in the WWF, but suffered an injury in a motorcycle accident in June, that puts him out for the Rest of the year.

January 24, 1993, at the WWF Royal Rumble 1993 PPV, a healthy Lex Luger woud debut as “The Narcissist”, a self-regarding Gimmick, presented by Bobby Heenan, who would be his manager.

Lex would basically look himself in the mirror and pose, falling in love with his own look, that was the Gimmick, but he had some good Heat.
