On January 25, 2009 “The Viper” Randy Orton, leader of the infamous ‘Legacy’ stable, entered the Royal Rumble match as #8 and won it by last eliminating Triple H.
That way Orton won the right to challenge for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, while Triple H became the champion at No Way Out, the PPV between the Rumble and WrestleMania.
On April 5, 2009 at WrestleMania 25 Randy Orton failed to win the WWE Championship when Triple H hit the Pedigree for the 1-2-3.
