After coming short of winning a year earlier, when he was the last one eliminated, Roman Reigns would finally make it on January 25, 2015, winning the Royal Rumble match after entering as #19, by last eliminating Rusev.
That Rumble win made him the #1 contender for the undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Main Event of WrestleMania, challenging then champion “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar dominated most of the match, when fellow cruiserweight wrestler Seth Rollins showed up, cashed-in his Money in the Bank contract and stole the win and the World Title.
That way Roman Reigns is the last Rumble winner, who challenged for the title at Mania, but lost.
