As we noted earlier today, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins injured his knee during a No Holds Barred match against Demon Kane at a WWE Live Event. You can watch the video above.
WWE announced that Seth Rollins will be out for 6-9 months, and has been stripped off the WWE World Title. With Rollins being out for such a long period of time, it could be mean that he might miss WrestleMania 32. A Tournament will be held to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Below is what WWE.com posted:
“WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has torn his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus, and will not be able to defend the title against Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. A tournament to determine a new champion will instead take place at the event.”
Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE is re-writing all the scripts for their upcoming shows as Rollins was a big part of the show and the #1 in the company (as he was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion).
Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have been scheduled to face each other on PPV twice (at Survivor Series 2015 & Night of Champions 2014), but none of them took place as Reigns got injured prior to the match last year and Rollins got injured this year.
With most of the big names in WWE not being on Television as of late (John Cena, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan), WWE has been contacting some major names from the past to return. This would possibly lead to Undertaker and Kane working next week’s WWE Raw.
