Era #3: The New Generation Era (1993 – 1997)

Despite The Hulkster returning for a few more months in 1993, this era is widely known as ‘Post-Hogan Era’.

With a lot of other ‘Golden Era’ Stars leaving the company and some being let go because of the ongoing FBI Investiagion (Steroid Trial), the WWF went for a youth movement, and upgraded some former Tag Team Wrestlers & Mid-Carders to Main Eventers.

While on paper non of the new WWF Champions even came close to fill Hogan’s shoes, the Quality of the product wasn’t anywhere near as bad as the official were suggesting.

For a lot of Old Schoolers, who were watching back then, the New Generation Era was still fun.

In late 1995 it was the first time since the Main Stream Boom of the mid 80s, that the World Wrestling Federation actually had a competition. And not just any competition. CNN Owner Ted Turned started airing his WCW Monday Nitro TV Show on Monday Nights at the same time slot of WWF Monday Night RAW. It doesn’t get much more of a direct rivalry.

In 1996 during the late New Generation Era, the WWF started losing the weekly Monday Night Battle with WCW, which later ended up becoming an 84 week losing streak …
