The Greatest Wrestlers To Never Compete In a Royal Rumble Match

4. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat

Famous WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat was never a participant in a Royal Rumble match.

He did however have a match at the very first Royal Rumble Event on January 24th 1988, where he defeated “Ravishing” Rick Rude via disqualification.

Just a few months later Steamboat retired from Professional Wrestling, right after WWF WrestleMania IV, but then joined Ted Turner’s WCW World Championship Wrestling less than a year later in January 1989.

In March 1991 he returned to the WWF but wouldn’t stay around long enough for the 1992 Royal Rumble, as he had already left for WCW again before 1991 was over.

Ricky Steamboat then retired from Pro-Wrestling yet again in 1994, and only returned to the WWE for a couple of matches in 2009, not including a Royal Rumble appearance though.
